This article explains the different categories of bans in Unturned and how to get support with them.
There are three categories of bans:
How do I know what kind of ban I have?
When you join a server there should be a relevant message:
- "You are banned from this server [...]" means you have a server ban.
- "You are banned from playing multiplayer." means you have a game ban.
- "You are banned from playing on VAC secure servers." means you have a VAC ban.
If you are VAC or game banned you will be notified in Steam. This notification needs to be explicitly dismissed, so if you didn't receive a notification you are almost certainly not banned. VAC and game bans are also listed on your Steam profile, so if you don't see a ban label on your Steam profile you are almost certainly not banned.
Server bans
Unturned servers are hosted by the community. Community server hosts can set their own rules as they see fit. If your ban message starts with "You are banned from this server [...]" that means it is a server ban, not a global BattlEye/VAC ban. This often extends to other servers owned by the same host.
Unturned support cannot override server bans, so your best option for support is contacting the server's moderation team.
Steam game bans (BattlEye)
Unturned uses BattlEye anti-cheat which applies Steam game bans when cheats are detected.
Please use BattlEye's contact form here for ban appeals and support.
You can find more information on game bans here.
VAC bans
VAC stands for Valve Anti-Cheat. Unturned used VAC more-so before BattlEye was integrated. You can find more information on VAC bans here.
