Fixing "Your [...] name contains invalid letters."

If you are getting kicked for one of these messages then please consult the rules below:

• "Your Steam username contains invalid letters."
• "Your character name contains invalid letters."
• "Your friends-only private nickname contains invalid letters."

These name rules apply on all servers:

• Empty names are not allowed. For example just spaces "   " is not allowed.
• New lines are not allowed. For example the \n and \r control characters.
• Rich text formatting tags like <b>, <i>, <color> are not allowed.
• Cannot contain "Nelson" in order to help prevent impersonating the developer. This was added more recently than the other requirements on 2022-11-24.

Server owners can also enable a stricter built-in filter with these rules:

• Only English letters A-Z, a-z, numbers, and certain punctuation are allowed.
• ASCII character codes less than or equal to 31, or greater than or equal to 126 are not allowed.
• Forward slash /, back slash \, single quote ', double quote ", and back quote ` are not allowed.
